Meet the team

James Grover
Director

James began his estate agency career at Palmer Snell in Somerton 2002, later working with Michael English in Langport when the company was Barons Property Services. Having grown up in Keinton Mandeville, High Ham and Drayton, James is passionate about the area, and a strong supporter of local businesses and extolling the virtues of Somerset life. James says: “Being able to help clients find the right home is a real privilege. if people are new to the area it is easy for me to explain why they should choose this area above any other. I feel very lucky not only growing up here but also now being able to work and raise my family here”. When not in the office James can be found walking around National Trust parks with his two boys and enjoying a pint in Eli’s.

Emma Grover
Office Manager

Emma takes pride in negotiating between sellers and buyers, providing our clients with regular and comprehensive updates on the progress of their sale and purchase. Emma also accompanies prospective buyers on accompanied viewings. Having grown up in High Ham and always lived locally Emma is passionate about the local community and loves taking her young children on adventures through the countryside.

Aileen Clarke
Lettings Manager

Aileen has worked in the industry for over 16 years and brings with her a wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm. Having been instrumental in her previous role for implementing high levels of customer service and procedures, we have already received superb feedback from satisfied clients. Aileen is on hand to advise on all aspects of lettings including helping prospective landlords on suitable properties, location, size and potential rental values. In her spare time Aileen can be found hiking the coastal paths or being taken on long walks by her massive rottweiler.

Hannah Isaacs
Senior Lettings Negotiator

Hannah is our senior lettings negotiator and has worked in the industry for 13 years and is also head of maintenance for the lettings team. Hannah deals with the day-to-day maintenance requirements of our managed properties; advising landlords and tenants accordingly and liaising with contractors to arrange necessary works. Other responsibilities include: carrying out regular property inspections and reporting back to landlords, conducting accompanied viewings, discussing prospective tenants with landlords and preparing associated paperwork. Hannah grew up in Taunton and loves spending quality time with her friends and family.

Helen Atkins
Sales Negotiator

Helen's role includes accompanying prospective buyers around properties and dealing with the daily enquiries coming into our busy award-winning office. Helen is also a key member of the sales progression team keeping clients up to date throughout the selling and buying process. We are pleased to welcome Helen as our newest member to the team, having previously worked in hospitality and customer service we can already see the benefits of having her as part of the English Homes team. Helen has lived locally all her life and has enjoyed bringing up her family in the local community. In her spare time Helen enjoys Pilates and walking.

Hazel
 

Hazel works part-time in the office, helping with viewings during extra busy periods. She has been with English Homes for 3 years and enjoys talking to clients and answering any questions and reporting back to the office. Hazel relocated from Hampshire to Somerset with her husband 5 years ago and can thoroughly recommend the advantages of living in the beautiful historic area. In her spare time Hazel is a volunteer at the local Brainwave Charity Shop, she is also a keen gardener and an active member of the WI.

Michael English
Property Consultant

Founder of English Homes in 2008, Michael is a well known and respected member of the local business community with a useful knowledge of all aspects of the residential estate agency industry. After careers in the British Army and then the Australian corporate IT industry Michael became an estate agent in 2000 so has built up a large number of professional and client contacts over the years. This experience helps to set the company apart from others when difficult situations arise in the selling, buying and letting process, with many problems resolved as a result of our timely involvement. When not at work he is to be found under an ancient land rover or otherwise avoiding gardening duties.
